Trick or Treating in the Year 2007?

Okay, so I have a problem with parents who go door to door with their kids and hold out bags of their own. Can we say SHAMELESS? I'm happy to reward their adorable children's cute costumes with candy (although I'm not too thrilled with the fact that I'm contributing to their tooth decay and childhood obesity) but I'm not cool with providing for their PARENTS' sugar rush! People need to show some class and just raid their kids' candy bags after they go to bed, like the parents of yore!

The last trick-or-treater I had tonight was a precious little boy dressed up as a lion. VERY cute. His father asked me if I had a quarter bag. I KID YOU NOT. (For those unfamiliar with the lingo, a 'quarter bag' is $25 worth of pot.) I was torn between being amused and being disgusted. I decided to go with disgusted. And with that, my door closed and the porch light went off. It's almost 8:30, anyway- only the troublemakers trick-or-treat later than that. And I'm home alone- no more crackpots, please!

And I did NOT shut down because I wanted to save the remaining Reese's cups and Almond Joys for myself. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
