Because, apparently, these days of 20-something-singlehood are ones I will look back on and cherish as 'fond memories' one day.

What ev.
So anyhoo, between here and my MySpace blog, be prepared to hear more from me. This is, above all else, an excercise to get my writing back in gear. My literary skills have been sorely neglected in recent months, due in equal parts to the fall of my angsty emo-ness in the battle of Prozac (as it has come to be known) and to the lack of spare time, as I have been working two jobs- as an insurance agent by day, Borders bookseller by night.
Man, let me tell you, working in a book store has been even better than I dreamed it to be when I applied for the job. While it pays in pickles, and will therefore never be a full-time career for me, it is enough fun to warrant extending my employment there beyond the holidays. The extra income is pretty fun, too, little as it is. :)
Here, after much ado, are my kudos and frowneys of late:
Kudos to:
* My Christmas present to myself- my new Samsung Juke. While it is not an iPhone by a longshot, it holds the two functions that I most need- MP3 player and phone all in one. This MP3 holds more than my iPod did, so I'm psyched. And it's red, which adds to its awesomeness.
* My new 'do. My other Christmas present to myself- a cut and color at my favorite curl up & dye establishment, Hair For You. (You're welcome for the shout-out, Rhonda & gang!) It's dark brown with bright red streaks- about as freaky as my career with a reputable insurance agency will allow.
* The movie Sweeney Todd. Go see it. You will either be eternally grateful to me for the recommendation or consider your theory that I should be committed affirmed.
* Fergie's performance on the Hollywood New Year's party last night.
While I am a fan, I thought her vocal talents were probably largely dependent on the recording industry's technology. I was wrong.
Frowneys to:
* The writer's strike. While I am in agreement with their reasons for striking, I am so ready for some fresh Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel already. I must admit, though, the awards shows will be interesting to watch.
* Zoey 101 (aka Jamie Lynn Spears). I am disappointed- I thought for sure she would be the antithesis of her deranged sister. The apple(s) don't seem to be falling far from the Lynne tree.
* Train wrecks in general. Amy Winehouse, quit saying "No, no, no!" and get your butt in rehab. While you're at it, take your pals Lilo, Paris, etc. with you. Enough already.
In closing, some things I would like to see in 2008:
* Les Mis on the big screen. It's time for Hollywood to be forgiven for the media bash-fest hayday that was The Phantom of the Opera. Les Mis should be enjoyed by all in movie form, and watched over and over again on HD DVD.
* George Clooney's breakup with his current arm candy. This one's for my personal benefit. The day will come when he realizes he can't live without a sweet, genteel southern girl like myself. I am convinced of this.
* Lauren Graham (aka Lorelai Gilmore) starring in the Wonder Woman movie that has been in talks for ages. Few could do Lynda Carter's signature character justice as well.
* The fall of Hilary Duff's career. Oh, wait. That one seems to have happened already, much to my delight.
* Fred Thompson or Mike Huckabee moving their belongings into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I'm leaning more towards Mike these days, but I like 'em both.
* Yankees World Series victory. Hey, a girl can dream.
* Me developing better sleep habits. And with that, friends, I bid you a fond farewell and goodnight.
EVER HAVE ONE OF THOSE DAYS/WEEKS/YEARS?
