The Bookstore Boogie (or not)

I am a closet lover of musical theater and film. I can quote "The Sound of Music" word for word, same with "The Phantom of the Opera." "Sweeney Todd", of course, combined all my favorites: blood, gore, song, and dance; it was cinematic nirvana. And being an Abba fan, I have been really looking forward to seeing "Mamma Mia!" but since I doubt anyone will go with me, I'll probably have to wait for the DVD.

However.

The soundtrack, which I would probably love to rock out to in my car, is currently playing on the overhead at Borders, and it is driving me crazy! I don't know what it is, but I find the show-tuney renditions of the familiar songs incredibly distracting while I'm trying to tell customers where to find "Eat, Pray, Love" or helping them reserve a copy of "Breaking Dawn."

Between that and the twangy new Sugarland CD (with such thought-provoking lyrics as 'Steve Earrrrle, Steve Earrrrle, please wriiite a sawng fer me!') I wanted to shoot myself in the foot last night! Not to mention that Stevie-poo was being a complete jerk, and undeserving of my adoration. :(

I really don't think they pay me enough.
