Yesterday morning, I woke up still bearing a striking resemblance to Rocky Dennis. So my 10:30 doctor's appointment was on. (I had hoped I would wake up and the swelling would be gone and I could cancel.) I can deal with looking hideous, but what I was most concerned about was the fact that it was affecting my one good eye. I was experiencing eye fatigue and slight blurring, plus the swelling over my eye was on the verge of obstructing my vision.

When I made the doctor's appointment, they wanted to get me in as soon as possible, so they scheduled me with a new doctor I had never met. Dr. Wallace was great. He was furious with Methodist North for not doing a CT scan or diagnosing a concussion. He said that there is no way that I could hit the windshield with enough impact to break it and cause a laceration like I had without having at least a Grade 1 concussion. He said the eye fatigue was a side effect of the obvious concussion, but was concerned about the swelling; he thought that maybe my sinuses were being affected, which could cause long-term problems. So he scheduled a CT of my head and facial bones for that afternoon and sent me on my way.

Mom drove me to the Methodist Germantown Radiology Center for the CT scan (since I was still carless and she was working with me.) We waited for what seemed like FOREVER, with the lady across from us in the waiting room quite obviously trying without much success not to stare at my deformed face. (I am ashamed to admit that that is one of my deepest fears- being the person at which people awkwardly try not to gawk.) Finally I was called back and 'photographed' from every angle. They couldn't let me go until the radiologist reviewed the results and consulted with the doctor. So it was another hour before they told me I was free to go.

Then came the fun part... going to pick up my rental vehicle! What made this even more enjoyable was the fact that I didn't have to pay for it. Ah, insurance- an industry I'm proud to work in! I had the choice between a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Rav 4. I started to go with the more fuel-efficient Camry, but changed my mind and decided on the [slightly less practical]sleek, cute, sporty silver Rav 4! I love it and don't want to give it back. It makes me feel like a 'hot soccer mom'!

Business taken care of, I followed Mom to Steak and Shake where I had a sinfully delicious Frisco Melt. Mmmmm! The perfect end to a very eventful day.
